The space
The Honu suite is a fully furnished, one bedroom and one bathroom unit and is equipped with the following:
The property is set atop a prominent rise with superb views of the upper ʻŌlaʻa Forest Reserve and the magnificent coastal plain below; both of which are set against the expansive and vibrant skyline of Puna.
Turning into the driveway, you are visually astounded as the forest opens up to reveal the property as our 2,400 square foot home is situated on approximately 1.6 acres of land. The parking area features eight-feet tall Hāpuʻu Ferns situated in oversized ceramic planters.
Walking upstairs, you are transported into a lush-green paradise as a hundred foot tall ʻōhia trees lazily sway in the wind while the fragrance and sound of the forest saturate your senses.
Sunrises from the private balcony is stellar and the elevation allows for unimpeded views downslope to the coastal plain, ocean, and horizon. During the day, enjoy cloud-watching and guess at the shapes the clouds form as they float by. At sunset (weather permitting), the skyline can change color from yellow/orange to pink/purple and everything in-between; truly magical.
The Honu suite maximizes the six-hundred and twenty square foot living area via an open concept that has a light and airy feel. Each living area includes a wrap-around leatherette sofa, which comfortably seats four with an adjoining kitchen featuring all the amenities of home.
The Honu suite features photographs of the Big Island’s sea life such as the Hawaiian Green Sea Turtle (Honu) and the Aʻama Crab illustrating the dynamic vibrancy of Hawaiʻi’s coastal environment.
The bedroom include an Alderwood queen-size bed set featuring a 10″ Plush Gel Memory Foam Mattress for the ultimate in comfort and sleep. The matching ten-drawer dresser with 30-inch mirror provides ample space to store personal belongings and for you to get ready for your exciting day while visiting Volcanoes National Park.
The suite also includes a queen size airbed. The Ivation self-deploying air mattress inflates, while 16 powder-coated steel legs provide a solid and secure base, allowing you to sleep with peace of mind. *NOTE: THE SELF-INFLATING AIR MATTRESS uses a built-in pump to maintain air pressure while you sleep and does make noise while inflating.
We invite you to experience Hawaiʻi at Aliʻi Koa!
Guest access
You are free to explore the exterior yard (graded areas) of the property; but please respect other guest suite private lanais. There are picnic tables with outdoor barbeques for your use on a first come basis.
Going into the forest is not recommended as the terrain is very uneven and visitors to the Volcano area have fallen into lava tubes hidden by the dense underbrush. Always stay on established known trails and carry water and your phone just in case you get into a rough spot.
